LOCAL EATS: Lumberjill Concessions food truck

EVART, MI — Lumberjill Concessions, a food truck found at the summertime Frankenmuth Funtown Chowdown Food Truck Festival and other events in Michigan, offers a sweet s’more “egg roll,” plus savory pulled pork nachos, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, olive burgers and Swamp Fries.

Just like the classic campfire treat, the s’mores-inspired “egg roll” is made with graham crackers, marshmallow and chocolate, then topped with chocolate syrup and powdered sugar.

Owner Jill Blankenship, who worked in the lumber and tree industry for 18 years before retiring and opening her food truck, said all of her egg rolls are popular.

“I have a buffalo chicken bacon ranch that is fabulous, that people go nuts over,” she said. “That and the barbecue pork are probably the best sellers I have.”

Lumberjill’s menu also features Swamp Fries, described as shoe string fries topped with beer cheese, bacon, pulled pork, barbecue sauce, Sriracha ranch, cotija cheese and slaw. Blankenship said she developed that recipe while at an event in a mud bog.

“I came up with that, it hit the menu, and you can’t take it off because they sell so much,” she said.

And meat lovers will want to try the Boss Hog Burger, a quarter-pound burger with barbecue sauce, jalapeno, pulled pork and beer cheese on a brioche bun.

Blankenship, who has operated her food truck for seven years, loves serving her customers.

“My joy is feeding them and having them appreciate a good meal,” she said.

Among Lumberjill Concessions’ next stops is the 12th annual Sun Dried Music Festival taking place Friday, Aug. 26, through Sunday, Aug. 28, in Mason.
